Chateau Civrac, Cotes de Bourg
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, aged in new oak. 35% Malbec gives a soft fruity approach with a sweet vanilla finish. Quite deep, greyish crimson. Slightly peppery and herbaceous on the nose smells very fresh and somehow summery. Some capsicum notes. Fresh and a little bit green on the palate but in an attractive rather than unripe way.
A new claret: Intense colour, immediate balanced red fruit and vanilla nose, a big fruity wine that delivers richness and concentration together with fine-grained tannin. Complex fruit layers and long finish. Now on the list in many Michelin starred restaurants around the country...
