Salice Salentino Riserva 2006 - Gold Medal winner from Paolo Leo
Grapes: 80% Negroamaro, 20% Malvasia Nera di Lecce Four hectares of interplanted Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera vines near the town of San Donaci in the Salento region of Southern Italy. Planted in the typical 'Alberello' method (free-standing brush training). Plant density is around 5000 plants per hectare. Vines are between 25 and 35 years old standing in approx 30cm of clay surface and underlying limestone. Ageing is 18 months in stainless steel tanks, 6 months in large oak casks, and 6 months in bottle prior ro release.
